Medical Volunteers
When CompassCare, our parent organization, held a focus group with young women to find out the best way to be effective in pregnancy counseling, they asked them who they would most like to talk to when facing an unexpected pregnancy. Overwhelmingly they stated that they would like to speak with a “nurse who is a mom.” Our medical volunteers not only give us the expertise we need to run an effective center, but also provide women seeking our help with the assurance that they are in competent and caring hands.
There are two positions available in the Medical area:
Nurses (RN or LPN)
Our nurses run both urine pregnancy and STD tests and provide basic information on pregnancy and sexual health. No prior training in OB/GYN is necessary. Training is done on the job.
Ultrasound Technician
Our sonographers run a very basic early obstetric ultrasound. A degree and experience in ultrasound is required, but you do not need to be an expert in OB ultrasound. We will provide training on our techniques and protocols.
If you are a nurse or ultrasound technician and are interested in volunteering, please call Chris at 402 390 9700, or e-mail her at Chris@aaacpc.com.
